Zechariah 4:6-7 AMPC
6 Then he said to me, this [addition of the bowl to the candlestick, causing it to yield a ceaseless supply of oil from the olive trees] is the word of the Lord to Zerubbabel, saying, not by might, nor by power, but by My Spirit [of Whom the oil is a symbol], says the Lord of hosts.
7 For who are you, O great mountain [of human obstacles]? Before Zerubbabel [who with Joshua had led the return of the exiles from Babylon and was undertaking the rebuilding of the temple, before him] you shall become a plain [a mere [a]molehill]! And he shall bring forth the finishing gable stone [of the new temple] with loud shouting of the people, crying, Grace, grace to it!
Obstacles! We all have them. I’m saying obstacles; more than one, because they always appear in a multiple package; each one having their own personality and challenge.
How we handle them makes all the difference seeing victory or not. Are you making God the leader of the obstacle or are you going your own way?
Are you praying and seeking His Will, His Way and waiting on His Timing without complaining?
The key to a right relationship with God is obedience. Are you listening for His voice and obeying what He wants you to do and when He wants you to do it?
Zerubbabel started to build the Jerusalem Temple, but his enemies were making it impossible for him to complete it.
In verse 6 God became upset and sent an angel to Zerubbabel to tell him how to add the bowl to the candlestick, which would cause it to yield a ceaseless supply of oil from the olive trees. He then says to him “these obstacles you are facing will be no more but not by might, nor by power, but by My Spirit says the Lord.” He is telling Him do nothing I’ve got it.
The oil, of course, is a symbol of the Holy Spirit and God was giving Zerubbabel an endless supply. The Holy Spirit gives us the Power to do all that God calls us to do. We never could do anything without Him.
The bigger the obstacle the more we need the Holy Spirit to help us get over the obstacles.
In verse 7 He talks to the mountain and tells the mountain it shall become a mere molehill and that this Temple shall be finished!
What is blocking your way?
Give it all to Jesus and trust and obey! Grace, Grace to your mountain and watch it fall.
